about

"Sometimes I'll write a song that will just grab me and refuse to let go. I'll record multiple versions of it, seeking the perfect one, or maybe just trying to capture the song's very soul. For reasons I can't really explain, "Song" is on the list of songs that just wouldn't let go. It started out as a poem, and has gone through several musical renditions in its life. But I don't think it's ever been in a better state than it is now. When I listen to the version on the album, I get goosebumps." - Trisha

"Song" is a song that I think illustrates best how I felt approaching the album. Even without all the guitars and drums and layers of instruments, just hearing the original demo with a guitar and a voice I only had to listen to it once to know it was a great song. On that initial listen, I knew immediately how it would sound, and the energy and accessibility the album version would hold. A pop gem with plenty of "rawk" power to kick the door in at the end of the record." -Billy

lyrics

Lyrics:

Pluck me like a song
Come, string me along
Throw me at the sky
Scorn me when I cry

Sing me like a song
It won’t take too long
Burn the river dry
Shatter me with fright

For though I sing this song
It’s all turned out wrong
All that you could take
Is all that you will break

Scream me like a song
And you’ll come out strong
Scream me like a song
And you’ll come out strong

Pluck me like a song
Come, string me along
Throw me at the sky
Scorn me when I cry

Sing me like a song
It won’t take too long
Burn the river dry
Shatter me with fright
